Fixed Automated Spray Technology (FAST) increases road safety, the costs for the interventions are reduced, and thanks to the reduction in salting, it contributes to environmental protection.
Boschung America’s microFAST system, patented worldwide, allows the anti-icing agent to be applied to various types of road surfaces in a fine mist invisible to the driver. The spraying period and the volume of the anti-icing agent can be individually configured and automatically controlled by the TMS spray controller to match appropriate chemical application rates for specific conditions. This ensures the system is delivering the exact amount of chemical needed to keep the road safe without over treating.
Ideal for two-lane roadways, ramps, parking garages, and many other applications, it’s also available in microFASTkit for a do-it-yourself installation.
The advantages of microFAST are:
- Easy installation
- Reduction of on-road equipment by up to 3 times
- Requires a minimum amount of hardware for mounting
- No need for core drilling of bridge decks or road surfaces
- Installed in the wear layer of the road surfaces
- The most economical fixed anti-icing solution
During spraying, the stream of anti-icing solution is atomized and, as a result, it is nearly invisible to the public. The moving traffic immediately distributes the anti-icing solution over the entire road surface. By using one spray strip, the entire width of two lanes can be sprayed in one operation.
The spraying period can be adjusted from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, to suit specific pavement treatment needs.
A protective layer of anti-icing liquid is applied in a very short time (All done in about 50 seconds)
after 5 seconds
after 10 seconds

The patented microFAST spraying system consists of a 100 meter long strip with built-in nozzle bodies which, as a general rule, are installed at 5-meter intervals. Check valves are incorporated into the nozzle bodies in order to prevent contaminants from entering the spray strip, as a result, the system has low maintenance needs.
In the event of an ice hazard, the spraying process can be activated in combination with an Ice Early Warning System (GFS 3000). The spraying period can be adjusted as required (from 30 seconds to 3 minutes), thus ensuring that the optimum amount of anti-icing agent is applied. With various spraying programs, a number of spray nozzles or multiple spraying operations, the system can be perfectly adapted to suit the existing conditions.
The microFAST control unit can be fitted with ease in any street and in any building.
